Iowa Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
This is a four-story musculoskeletal center totaling 102,000 square feet of space. It includes clinical space for orthopedists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, occupational medicine physicians, and physical therapy. It is designed to expand by 40,000 square feet.
On this project, Medical Design International initially analyzed the Clinic’s productive need for space and developed a comprehensive space program to accommodate their needs. The project was done in conjunction with Mercy Hospital. After the site was secured, MDI did the design of the building, both from a medical space planning and architectural point of view. In this case, Medical Design International did Schematic Design and Design Development, while a local architect was the architect of record and did the Contract Documents.
