Carolina Orthopedic Specialists
When Medical Design International met Carolina Orthopedic Specialists in 1997 they were a 5 orthopedist, 1 PA practice that was experiencing rapid growth. They had plans to grow to at least 7 orthopedists, physical therapy, and possibly a rheumatologist and physiatrist to the practice.
Medical Design International was engaged to perform our Medical Facility Planning Analysis (MFPA) service for the practice and its current facility to determine if the practice was being effectively supported by the current facility and would the current facility handle the planned growth. And if not, how the operational systems of the practice could be changed to be more efficient and productive in a new facility, and how much building, parking, and land did they need to handle their planned growth.
After the MFPA analysis, the practice determined the facility had been out grown and was not allowing the physicians to function at their optimal patient-per-hour rate. A detailed Space Program determined Carolina Orthopedic Specialists required, 20,000 square feet of space. Sites were evaluated and once one was selected, Medical Design International provided full architectural services for Carolina Orthopedic Associates to establish their new practice facility increasing their productivity and efficiency.
