University of Rochester, Department of Orthopedics, Rochester, New York
When the University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital decided to move the Orthopedic Department to new space they engaged Medical Design International to assess the department, physician productivity, future growth. The planning document that we developed then served as a guideline in the development of the new Musculoskeletal Center. The off campus building was sited according to our master plan, is a two story structure of 110,000 square feet.
The Orthopedic center is located on both floors and includes space for x-ray, imaging, physical therapy, minor procedure, gait analysis, and administrative spaces.
Each floor is planned to allow 7 orthopedists and residents to see patients at one time. The facility includes state of the art digital imaging and computerized patient records.
