Northpoint Internal Medicine for Forsyth Memorial Hospital

This is a one story facility totaling 11,830 square feet. It included 4 MD exam modules and one NP module, x-ray and minor procedures spaces, and administrative and support spaces.
On this project, MDI was asked to help Forsyth Memorial Hospital design a custom office for a non network physician. The Hospital had offered to lease or sell the space to the physician upon occupancy. The doctors liked the design and layout so well that they opted to buy the space before they even moved in.
Among the challenges on this project was a steep sloping corner site in a bustling suburban area. The initial site planning by the Hospital land planners called for an expensive retaining wall. MDI recognized an opportunity to allow two of the buildings exterior walls to serve also as the retaining walls with virtually no sacrifice in the conceptual floor plan. The physicians enthusiastically accepted the proposal, and the retaining wall and its associated costs were deleted from the project.
