Alliance Medical Office Building, Alliance, Ohio
Doctors representing three medical practices purchased a Pontiac car dealership and its associated used car lot. The building had been without an occupant for several years, had fallen into disrepair and become an eyesore. It did have the asset of being in the middle of town, highly accessible, and highly visible.
The front of the building, the former auto display room, was in extremely poor shape and the roof was leaking. It was torn off the building and a new front built. The remainder of the auto dealership was renovated into clinical space for the three independent practices. The entire building was reclad to both radically change the building's appearance (so it would not look at all like its former use) and to improve the insultative characteristics of the exterior wall.
The conversion of this building into medical office space was so successful and met with such enthusiasm by the town, that people in the town requested the doctors host an open house to allow people to view the conversion.
