Kinston Head and Neck Physicians and Surgeons, Kinston, North Carolina
In 1982 the three doctors in this group requested Medical Design International’s assistance in planning a new building. It was to be able to support a four doctor practice. In addition to the necessary clinical space, the building was to provide room for an allergy service, minor surgery suite, and a speech and hearing service.
MDI performed its Medical Facility Planning Analysis service and identified that about 7,000 square feet of space would be needed. Through economic modeling the size of the building was reduced to better fit the doctors’ financial expectations, while maintaining the programmatic expectations. MDI then did the design for the suite.
In 2005, MDI was invited back into the practice to assist with some changes to the business office. Before beginning its new assessment, MDI was instructed to “not change one thing in the clinic.” It still works that well.
