South Carolina Heart Center, Columbia, South Carolina
This is a four-story heart center totaling 65,000 square feet of space. It includes clinical and administrative space for the practice, outpatient catheterization lab, Stage II and III cardiac rehab and nuclear imaging.
On this project, Medical Design International initially analyzed The South Carolina Heart Center’s productive need for space and developed a comprehensive space program to accommodate their needs. After the site was acquired, MDI then did the design of the building, both from a medical space planning and architectural point of view. Medical Design International was the architect of record on the project and saw the project through to occupancy.
Cardiac Catherization Labs -Utilizing a unique flow through prep and hold room arrangement MDI created an outpatient cath lab that provides privacy and access for patients and family while preserving the medical observation necessary in this type of facility.
Programmed for two cath labs and an EP lab this area is also used for TEE studies.
